Okay so yesterday I was so busy I forgot to post “Day 18” well I didn’t totally forget, but by the time I remembered it was 12:00am and I said I’d just make 2 posts in 1 tomorrow (Today).
Just the other day I decided I wanted to have a 1st Birthday smash cake photoshoot for Alani (Yes I always come up with ideas last minute). Anywho, I brought it up to Sekou and he said, okay go for it (I love that guy for always supporting my last minute craziness).
Because her birthday party is in less than 2 weeks, and I want pictures for her party, I decided to pull out that good ol’ Nikon and take the pictures all by myself, well not all by myself my brother, who is just as patient as I am played photographer for most of the photo shoot, thank you, thank you, thank you..
Okay so anyone who knows me knows that I absolutely LOVE taking pictures ever since I was a kid, and I want to make lots of memorable moments that I have pictures to show for.. In elementary and Junior high school I always had a disposable camera (remember those) and I was always the one taking pictures at school trips, recess, etc. I remember my freshmen year in high school I got my 1st digital camera for Christmas. Unfortunately my most latest digital camera (which was the best one I’ve ever had) got misplaced and I never got another camera after that until Mother’s Day, thank you again Sekou, don’t worry I won’t misplace this one.
Okay I just went off topic about how much I love cameras, but if you don’t have one, get one, even if it’s just a regular digital camera those are great too, Sony was the best for me.
Okay so back to this photo shoot. When we decided we were going to do the photo shoot ourselves I got straight to work, I started with online inspiration (Pintrest and YouTube), you ever seen how cute those cake smash photoshoots were, Alani just had to do one.
Once we figured out the theme I went and bought one too many things from party city. Then I decided I wanted to make her photo shoot cake by myself, because YouTube makes everything seem easy so I gave it a try, making that cake gave me a headache it wasn’t as easy as it seemed (damn you YouTube), but it turned out okay, and I’m proud of my work.
I set up everything all by myself, even though it took me two hours to do something that should probably take less than hour, it turned out great. You try setting up a backdrop with a walking 11 month old around, yes that includes lots of ripping down stuff I just put up, putting streamers in her mouth, trying to bite the balloons, maybe next time i’ll make sure someone is around to watch her before I start.
But let me tell you, Alani had Sooo much fun during picture time, we played her favorite song (watch me whip) and watched while she laughed, smiled and danced the photo shoot away.
Thank you Sekou, my siblings, and parents, for making this photo shoot possible, Alani and I Love You!!!
This was a long read, but sometimes when I start writing I can’t stop I want to give you guys all the details. Thank you for stopping by.
Here are pictures of the setup.
Here’s me acting like i’m some type of photographer, lol. Maybe next time I will leave it up to the real photographers, it’s not an easy task!
12 more days till the big 1!
