Lovedemitra’s 3rd Mommy & Me Group Meet up at Prospect Park Zoo

June 28, 2016 | 3 Comments

DSC_1209

This past weekend the mommies and the tots met up for our 3rd Mommy & Me Group Meet Up.

Let me tell you how much I love this group. I love that we have mommies with kids of different ages, because we’re able to talk about the different stages our kids are at, and get advice from the other mommies about what to expect.

I definitely learned that with new stages, comes new battles. What I love the most is being able to have girl chat, and our babies playing all at the same time. Like I said in the last two Mommy & Me Group Meet Up posts that you can catch here and here; I live for the adult conversations we have, they’re always great.

I just want to thank all of you fabulous mommies for making it possible; for us to meet, and our kids to have a blast.

I hope to see the rest of you mommies at the next meet up, TBA.

Here are some pictures

Trying to get all the kids to take a picture together is a task in and of itself.

Thanks for stopping by, see you at the next meet up.

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

June 19, 2016 | Leave a Comment

DSC_0294

Happy Father’s Day to all of you amazing Father’s out there, especially Alani’s Dad.

We started this journey with no prior experience; learning as we go, kind of just winging it, and I have to say you’ve been doing such an amazing job.

Alani is so lucky to have you as a a dad, and the way her face lights up when you walk in a room, is the face any parent would love to on their child’s face. The amount of tight hugs and kisses she gives you daily at her own request is so beautiful. I have to say we really lucked up with you as a dad. I wouldn’t want to be on this parenting journey with anyone else.

I hope we can make this day an amazing and memorable one. for you

We Love You.

Also, a special Happy Father’s Day to my dad, you are the epitome of what a father really is. A great teacher, provider, and friend. Thank you!

Keep up the great work Daddies; our daughters and sons need you!

Happy Father’s Day, Again

Sekou has really been inspiring me

June 17, 2016 | Leave a Comment

This morning I feeling really inspired by a lot of people, but let me tell you some of the benefits of having a partner who motivates/inspires you to be the best than you can be,

  1. They truly want the best for you, and will push you to be the best version of you.
  2. They bring out the best version of you.
  3. You learn from them, which pushes you even more.
  4. They give you purposeful advice
  5. There are so many benefits, that I couldn’t even list them all if I wanted to.

But, Sekou has been working very hard for several months now. Some of you may or may not know that both his cousins and him, create music, and they have been putting music out every Friday. Late nights I’ve been watching him tired from a long day at work, going to record music, and getting back to the house to create artwork, and upload music. All while being an amazing father to our daughter. I always compliment him, and try to push him just as he does me, to be consistent, and just be the best version of himself.

Sekou keep up the great work, Alani is watching and i’m sure she is going to be proud.

Also, for my readers go to their soundcloud (Upnorfdotcom) and listen to the music they’ve been putting out. My ABSOLUTE favorite right now is ‘Treat You Right’, which you can hear, here. I’ve loved this song from the first time I heard it like 10 years ago, okay i’m over exaggerating, maybe like 4 years ago, but I couldn’t wait for everyone to hear it, and I’m so happy that it’s out now, so go listen, and let me know what you think!

A trip to the Brooklyn Bridge Park with my best girlfriends

June 16, 2016 | Leave a Comment

DSC_1113

Last week, my friends and I went to the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

We’ve all been friends for over 14 years now, and it’s so hard getting to see everyone often. Every now and again we plan outings to hang out with one another, and this time the babies were included.

It’s never enough time during our visits to just catch up on what all of us has been up to, what our plans are, and just life. I truly enjoy having these girls in my life, especially for so long. No matter the time, or space, whenever we see each other again we always just pick up right where we left off.

We decided to go the the Brooklyn Bridge Park, so that the babies can go on the Jane’s Carousel , then we can have a little picnic. Too bad the carousel were running their last ride (maybe next time).

We were able to take the kiddies to the park, and the babies are in love with the slides, as you can see in their facial expressions below. [Read more…]

Those meaningful moments with our children last a lifetime

June 15, 2016 | 1 Comment

DSC_0377

This parenting thing here has no rule book, or blueprint. All we can do is do the best we can, and learn from trial and error. For me, making conscious decisions, surrounding my daughter with love, and spending time is the recipe for greatness, and I know Sekou would agree. I cannot count how many people have told me that Alani will never remember any of these things we have done with her thus far, but that is never going to stop us. Matter of fact they are right, but for us it’s never too early to start hanging out with our kid, and doing fun things as a family together.

We’re both big on spending time, especially since we both are full time workers, hence the reason why we love the weekends around here. The weekend is our time to just do whatever we want, and do all kinds of family activities.

When I was younger it was the same thing in my household. The weekends were spent at either mine, or my siblings soccer games, family functions, or any kind of kid friendly activities. There are places I don’t ever remember being, but I have pictures to look back at. However, I have this vivid memory of visiting The Floating Hospital as a kid.  [Read more…]
