Happy Birthday Asiya

September 30, 2017 | Leave a Comment

Happy Birthday to my niece, Alani’s ride or die Asiya. She’s one of the most smart, loving, kind, patient 9 year old I know to date.

The patience she has for Alani is out this world. The love they share is beyond anything I can explain. Alani could be acting like mean brat, and Asiya’s love and patience never seems to run thin. Im forever thankful for that. You would think because of the age difference their relationship would be different but Alani loves her big cousin as if they are the same age. Whenever there’s family functions, her 1st question is “will SiSi be there” because they’re really like two peas in a pod. I really couldn’t have asked for a better cousin for Alani to look up to. Asiya I Love You and stay sweet just the way you are.

– Love Demi and LaLa

PS: if your kid doesn’t have great older cousins, just get a whole new family lol

Motherhood Lately

September 29, 2017 | 1 Comment

I’m still trying to figure this motherhood thing out 3 yrs later. By now you would think I just have it all figured out.

I’m still rushing out the house in the mornings. Still working on sticking to a specific bedtime. Or simply packing the swimming bag the night before lol. oh the little things.

However, motherhood is about learning and growing everyday. Everyday, it’s a new word, or new story. The other day I asked Alani how her day was, and she said “my day was impeccable”, I was surprised like wait it was what?! Oh that little light of mine makes me happy. As for me, i’m working on a schedule for myself, because I work best with one, me winging things, causes me to be late, unorganized, and the whole nine, so yea.

Trust me I’m still leaning as a parent everyday, taking it one day at a time, don’t be fooled by how perfect these pictures look, this motherhood thing is hard work.

Sunday Funday; Picnic Edition

September 25, 2017 | Leave a Comment

I don’t know if you all feel the same way, but summer came and went in a blink of an eye. I usually have a few things on my summer list to complete,, and I wasn’t able to check picnic, or a walk a cross the bridge off the list.

Well since the weather was giving summer vibes we took full advantage of it and had a little picnic. Alani had a blast, she had more than enough space to run, jump, laugh all without a care in the world. Sekou and I were looking at her having a blast, and all i could thing was, I hope she stays this invigorating, inquisitive, and fearless forever!!!

Needless to say it was a good time, and long overdue. How did you all enjoy your Funday Sunday?

Collecting a few acorns.

What Grandparents Are For

September 20, 2017 | Leave a Comment

Because I didn’t grow up with my grandparents living in the same country as me I really didn’t know how to coincide parenting and “grand parenting” together.

My mother always says I’m so selfish with Alani, lol and I might, because I honestly don’t know any other way. Growing up it was just my siblings and my parents, So my parents did everything with us, and usually Sekou and I do everything with LaLa . But lately especially since Alani is so vocal she’s says things like “I want to go to Grandma Kiva house, or I want to go to Grandma Joan house”. So, at that point I just call up her grandparents like hey your grand kid wants to come over. Recently, while we were en route to my parents house, and LaLa said mommy I want to go to Papa because he’s taking me to ride my bike, so to Papa’s we went.

I just want to say Alani’s grandparents are the real MVP’s, she is so loved, also so spoiled lol, but Love is Love right?! Her grandparents do any and everything for her and she loves and appreciates it them so much, and so do I, because every now and again a momma needs a break and her grandparent always go up and beyond to take over, and I truly love you all so much.

NO one has grandparents like LaLa’s I guarantee, I also might be a little bias.

And shout out to my WCW today Alani’s Glamma Kiva. How cute are they on their bikes in the picture above.

A Few Pictures from LaLa’s Birthday Celebration

September 13, 2017 | Leave a Comment

This year for LaLa’s birthday we agreed to have an intimate celebration for her. Alani had some family members and best friends with her, with cake, balloons, music, and gifts, LOTS of gifts, now that’s how you through a house party.

Although it was more intimate than the past 2 years she still had the time of her life. If I had to say; her two favorite parts were the guest walking in with her gifts, and her kindly retrieving it from their hands, barely even saying hello may I add (with no shame lol), and also cutting her cake.

Let me tell you all, Alani has been waiting for this day for monthssss. She does this thing where she says “Mommy pretend it’s my birthday, sing happy birthday to me”, and she’ll smile, laugh, and say thank you everybody as if it were her birthday. She did just that when everyone sang happy birthday to her, and the smile on her face confirmed that Sekou and I have accomplished another successful birthday for her.

I Just want to also say thank you to everyone who wished her a happy birthday.

The Crew!!

At this point; If you know LaLa then you Know SiSi
