Happy Monday

January 29, 2018 | 1 Comment

As February is approaching I am proud of my accomplishments throughout the month of January. I’ve been consistently working out, drinking more water, reading a little more, introducing more mommy daughter dates with the little one, just trying to live my best life.

I’ve also been using my personal planner more. I notice at work I use my planner ALL the time, and its so effective, that I realized I need to do the same with my personal life. Clearly I’m trying to be more organized in life!!

So, February I’m ready to conquer.

Happy Birthday Nana-Yaw

January 19, 2018 | 1 Comment

Happy Birthday to my big brother.

I’m so thankful for my parents who raised my siblings and I the way they did. To look out for one another, to care for one another, and always have each others backs. I have so many memories as kids with Nana, but one that sticks out is the time I fractured my knee when i was 10 years old.

I remember it was summertime, probably summer 2001. Anyway so it’s summertime, EVERYONE is outside, and i’m stuck in the house because I have this big ol’ stupid cast on my leg, from my thighs to my ankle, the elevator in my building was out of service, and we lived on the 5th floor. I remember Nana coming back upstairs like “yo everyone is outside, you want to come”. Homeboy puts me on his back and carries me all the way downstairs; this is 5 flight of stairs. I had a chair and I sat outside, although I couldn’t play being outside with everyone, and getting some fresh air was great. if that isn’t love, then I don’t know what is. You’re the real MVP.

Nana, Thanks for always looking out for your little sister, always making sure i was included. Also, Thank you for the love you give to your niece. We hope this year is filled with happiness, love, and wealth, we hope that God gives you the strength to surpass any obstacles that wish to come your way. More life!!!!

PS: Everyone be kind, be kind to the one you loves, the way you make someone feel lasts a lifetime!!!!

Whitney Museum

January 18, 2018 | 1 Comment

Yes, Yes, Yes we went to the Whitney Museum AGAIN. The Whitney real has a special place in my heart, I love this museum so much and it really never disappoints. We’ve had memberships since last year and didn’t take full advantage, so before our membership expired we decided to go check out Laura Owens exhibit specifically. I love Laura’s creations they’re so bright so amazing, and abstract, as you can see below. If you get a chance go check it out, the last day is February 4th.

Also, I have to throw in how great Alani was during this trip. This was her first museum ever she visited. She was really into it, like pointing, and giving her interpretations. She didn’t have a stroller, because we haven’t been using one in forever, but she listened to directions (Not crossing the black line, and of course no running, etc). There were a few moments when she was talking really really loudly, which could have been disturbing to others, however she was great, and I’m so amazed at how much she has matured. Lala you can be my museum date anytime!!

This conversation went something like Lala: “That wheel is like the one on my bike, and that one is red like Papa’s bike, and that is like grandmas” Oh how I love this kid!!

Where we’re trying to be; still, and at peace “At The Center of The World”

My Independent 3 Year Old

January 16, 2018 | 4 Comments

Since Alani is getting bigger she’s becoming more and more independent. I love it so much, but most times I just want her to be a little baby again, and other times I really just want to jump in and do just about everything for her, because it’s just so much quicker.

However, I’m working on allowing her to do things on her own, and embracing her independence. Although certain task may take longer, I work hard on refraining myself from intervening. Sometimes, she gets frustrated when she can’t unzip her boots, or close a zip lock bag and other things, I usually sit back and tell her to be patient with herself, and just keep trying.

I’m really trying to continue to encourage her to embrace her independence, and not always intervening. We went to Private Picassos to go painting this past weekend so she can paint and create a masterpiece. I was so tempted to tell her what colors to use and where to paint, but I allowed her to just be free and do her thing., and her painting came out beautiful, cannot wait to frame it and hang up.

Here’s to independence, and my little baby turning into a big girl.
