Since Alani is getting bigger she’s becoming more and more independent. I love it so much, but most times I just want her to be a little baby again, and other times I really just want to jump in and do just about everything for her, because it’s just so much quicker.
However, I’m working on allowing her to do things on her own, and embracing her independence. Although certain task may take longer, I work hard on refraining myself from intervening. Sometimes, she gets frustrated when she can’t unzip her boots, or close a zip lock bag and other things, I usually sit back and tell her to be patient with herself, and just keep trying.
I’m really trying to continue to encourage her to embrace her independence, and not always intervening. We went to Private Picassos to go painting this past weekend so she can paint and create a masterpiece. I was so tempted to tell her what colors to use and where to paint, but I allowed her to just be free and do her thing., and her painting came out beautiful, cannot wait to frame it and hang up.
Here’s to independence, and my little baby turning into a big girl.

Yes this is me too, I usually tell Alani that I have to do it first (brush/floss her teeth, wash her up) and then she can do it by herself after. Omi I’m not readyyyyy!!!

Funny thing is I reccently had this conversation with my aunt because I complained Maddie wanted to be grown “so bad”; using her wanting to brush her teeth and wash her body up by herself as an example. And my aunt definitely got me together real quick saying shes not grown shes just becoming more independent and the problem was solely I wasnt ready to accept it. Girl I nearly cried cause she was sooo Right! Even though Ive loosen up a bit allowing her to do some things on her own I always end up sneaking an extra scrub-a-dub-dub to those important body parts im certain she missed. Lol The best part of becoming a first time mom is watching how both Mommy and “baby” have learning processes to adapt to.
