This past weekend Lala and i visited the Brooklyn Museum for Target First Saturdays. this was a first for us. we’ve been to the Brooklyn Museum (as you can see here), once before, but never came for Target First Saturdays. It was such a great experience, and even greater because my mom came with us too.
I really wanted to see the Basquiat “untitled” painting that sold for $110 million. I really wish he was still here to see how much his art has continued to live on. Its nice to know that this “untitled” as you can see below, is being presented in a museum for the first time, at the Brooklyn Museum, his birth city.
I definitely want to go back and view it again, so I can stay a little while longer, because it was really crowded when i went, and I was unable to get the experience I wanted.
Anyway, if you all follow my insta stories you probably seen the video where Alani was pointing at a Basquiat portrait and asked “That’s Basquiat” in her cute little voice. Oh, this child of mine. We have seen a few pieces from Basquiat while on our museum journey. Alani also has this book that her Glamma bought her called “Radiant Child: The Story of young Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat” so I think Baquiat will forever be familiar to her. Speaking of books, shout outs to Glamma for always getting Lala dope books. We literally read EVERY single night before bed, unless she falls asleep before we get home obviously, however, Alani picks about two books that she wants to read, and that one was in rotation for like 3 weeks when she first got it. Her growing library is so dope, I’ll do a post on the books we’re all reading.
I really try to refrain from making long posts, because I assume they can be draining to readers, but sometimes I just can’t stop, so if you made it this far I love, and appreciate you!!.
Happy Monday Folks, May this week be a great one!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention the dance showcase they had. Soo amazing. I don’t think I’d go back for First Saturdays, because of the crowd, however just going for the dance showcase may win me over, so who knows. Plus, Alani had a BALLL, she did not want to leave, because before and after the showcase it was like a dance party, live DJ, and a dance floor, they even had a choreographer come and teach some moves. Alani was in her Gleeee! Great time overall.
