Paris Video

March 31, 2017 | 2 Comments

So, during my Paris trip I was taking videos, something I usually never do, but glad I did.

Looking at this video makes me appreciated the sisterhood I have with these girls even more. They have been my friends, well sisters since we were 11 years old. Seriously; how amazing is that?

We’ve always kept in touch. Although we don’t see each other as often as we’d wish to, we ALWAYS pick up right where we left off.

And, just like any other relationship, we may have our differences but we’re always able to work it out.

When we were kids we used to have confession sessions to hash out all our issues, and till this day I think that’s why we’re able to have such a strong bond.

Four  different personalities, but we each add 1/4 of greatness to this bond we have.

Check out this compilation of videos I put together  from below.

Also, don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe to my youtube channel, where I hope to add more videos.

Those Childhood Lessons Come a Long Way

February 27, 2017 | Leave a Comment

I just came across this photo yesterday, and it just speaks so much volumes to me.

As most of you probably know, soccer was/is a family sport in my household, my father played soccer, and nothing was different for his children, however that’s not the reason this photo speaks volumes.

I  had to be just about 4 years old in this picture, but I remember this day like yesterday. This day was registration day for AYSO, and this was also the day you chose the team you were going to play on.

This was about my 2nd or maybe 3rd time playing soccer on an actual team. I remember my parents alongside my Godfather looking at the teams that would best suit me, and I remember them picking this team.

When they asked me if I wanted to join that team I remember saying “No, it’s an all boys team, I’m the only girl”, (At this age I don’t believe I had any knowledge of race or thought that I was the only black person, but that a whole other story). I remember my dad and my Godfather telling me they thought that was the only competitive team for me, and that I was even better than most of the boys there.

I then remember being uneasy, and my mother telling me something to the effect of, I can do anything the boys could do, and probably even better than them, and that I should try it out first, and if I didn’t like it they’ll take me out. I ended up making the descision of staying on the team, and I also remember being better than most of the boys (not to toot my own horn, but I gotta ask my godfather for those videos for proof lol)

Anyways, when I looked at this picture yesterday all I could think of was my family was preparing me for the future. To never limit myself, because of gender or even race.

Looking back at my childhood,  I really thought I could do anything, if my brother could do it, I thought I could too.

Those little lessons in childhood really come a longggg way, and sometimes you don’t really understand it until you’re 25yrs old.

All I can say is thank you, and make this a lesson for you too; to push your children, and never allow them to limit themselves.

Happy Monday

Be a Better Parent Than You Were Yesterday; Why I started my blog

February 23, 2017 | 5 Comments

For a long time I wanted to start a blog I remember I started a Tumblr about 7 years ago, but I’m all about timing and it really wasn’t the right time to start blog, because my life really wasn’t that interesting, and there wasn’t much for me to blog about at the time.

However, once I had my daughter and I realized many people were asking me the same questions about motherhood, things I was using, relationship advice, and about places we visited with our daughter I knew the timing was right. Plus, I think my life became a little more interesting with this little one.

Upon starting my blog I made a vow to myself that the purpose of this blog would be to motivate other parents like myself (a young black mother). If there’s anything I want any of you to take back from this blog is to be the best parent you know how, work on being a better parent than you were yesterday. I also want you all to know that you can start exposing your children to culture, and activities, from a young age, don’t wait on the school system, because some of the best education comes from home, and start from now. I want US all to be able to inspire one another to parent our kids to be the best; better than we are, because they are our future.

My parenting goal is always to be a better mother than I was yesterday.

Also, Thank you to everyone who has been supporting of my blog thus far.

Palace of Versailles

February 17, 2017 | 2 Comments

Yes yes, another Paris posts.

While in Paris we visited the Palace of Versailles, and Oh my goodness, this was really the highlight of my entire trip. If I only visited the Versailles my entire trip, I would’ve been satisfied, because it’s so beautiful. The Louis’ were really living in style. The entire palace from top to bottom was structured in style. I wouldn’t mind living like that for a day, just a day :).

You guys can see the beauty in the pictures below. I promise it’s so much more beautiful in person, so add it to your vision board.

Paris Fun

February 8, 2017 | 1 Comment

During our time in Paris, my friend Essie ensured that we had a good time. From the minute we arrived she had a proposed Itinerary for us, and we kick started our trip at Lab 14. Now i’ve been to a few museums, not so many art gallery’s, but this art gallery was very unique, nothing i’ve ever seen before.

It was like a warehouse with several several rooms filled with wall paintings, on every single spot of the wall, there wasn’t one blank spot, even the staircase was painted beautifully. The colors and designs were beautiful. I wish I took more pictures, but you guys can get a glimpse below.

We did a lot of local stuff during this trip, Essie encouraged us to take the train everyyyywhere (Quite annoying for me as I love my car rides, lol, but also worth the experience. Thanks Essie lol). During one of the train rides we made it to Musee Du Louvre then to the Notre Dame.

Okay, first let me tell you how I made a vision board sometime last year, and I had pictures of the Louvre, Eiffel Tower etc. So when I got to the Louvre I was in Awe, because it was really happening, I was there in flesh lol, I know I may sound crazy to some but it was exciting to be there, especially since it was something I envisioned. It was quite upsetting that we kind of had to rush the visit as we got there too late and it was about to close, but I did get to see Mona Lisa, also I learned of Marianne, she was a real boss lady lol, and much more.

Any who, Paris was a good time, hope you can all live vicariously through these pictures if you’ve never visited.

Oh, yea be sure to complete those vision boards, because they’re the truth!!!!!

More pictures below..
