Happy Mother’s Day 2018

May 13, 2018 | Leave a Comment

Happy Mother’s Day to all of us superhero’s, because that’s what we are right?! Motherhood isn’t easy, but I hope with all that we do today can be a great one. I just want to say that I love you all, and many of you have inspired, and guided me into the mother I am today.

Check out my appreciation for a few mothers who has helped me become the mother I am.

Happy Mother’s Day to Grandma Lady J. Wish to only be half the mother she is.

Shout outs to my sister for always playing the big sister role so well. Literally my 2nd mother.

I’ll forever thank you for being the strongest person in the delivery room with me. Holding my leg, having a smile on your face and encouraging me for those 3 hrs. Best Mid Wife ever lol.

Happy Mother’s Day to my mother in law Kiva Waters.

Thank you for bringing so much joy in our lives. Really one of the funniest people I know. The glamma who takes her grandkid to Toys R Us every other week, even on her own birthday.

Happy Mother’s Day Omi.

It’s always great to have someone to talk about the ugly truths about motherhood with, thanks for being that person for me. Also, I forever commend you for your strength in motherhood.

Happy Mother’s Day Bee.

You probably don’t even remember this, but thank you for all those text messages leading up to my delivery, cause you knew how anxious I was, thanks for giving me those encouraging words. I will forever hold them close to my heart. Also, Thank you for Asiya, she’s a gift to us all!!!

Happy Mother’s Day Doni.

You got it double time!! Double the blessings too.

Happy Mothers Day Malika

Happy Mothers Day Widza!!

Your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. Glad we get to do this together

Happy Mothers Day Ms. Makeisha.

I don’t know if I can say it enough, but thank you for EVERYTHING, the list is never ending.

Happy Mother’s Day Tenia.

Forever thank you for those box of homemade cookies you shipped me all the way from NC, while I was pregnant.

And to all of you amazing mommies. Thank you for putting these smiles on your child’s faces, it’s the moments, and how you made them feel in those moments that they will forever remember. Keep up the great work!!!!

Tough With A Lot of Spunk

May 9, 2018 | Leave a Comment

My daughter is so tough with a lot of spunk, and I don’t even know what I’m going to do. Everyone who meets Alani raves about how independent, how friendly, how outgoing she is, and how much personality she has, the truth is the expense that comes with this courageous, fearless outgoing personality is bumps and bruises. I have to say that I love her personality yes, but when she’s enjoying life so carefree and gets hurt it hurts me, most of the times it hurts me more than it actually hurts her, and this momma here may shed a tear or two or more.

The other day after one of her little accidents I was talking to my brother, and he said “hey she’s fearless and you gotta love her for it”. I like to consider myself an optimistic soul, and during the conversation with my brother I told him there’s no way that nothing good is going to come out of this personality she has, being so fearless, being so outgoing, this sounds like a BOSS BUSINESS woman to me in the future. So, in the future I will be able to tell her how many mini heart attacks she has given me, but how proud I am at how everything turned out for the better. Pray for me guys, pray for my nerves.

This story as always… To Be Continued…….

Also I love this jacket that we got from @Littlediamondkids

UNIQUE; Zara & Alani

April 27, 2018 | 3 Comments

Okay, I’m going to start this post by saying how much I love Zara, and Alani’s relationship. They were born friends lol. Zara has been to just about every mommy meetup, and at the end of the meet up these two never want to part from each other, even though there’s usually some kind of fuss in the middle of playtime, because one doesn’t want to share. They always request more time, and play dates at ones house, which we HAVE to make happen rather sooner than later.

Zara has recently has been diagnosed with segmental vitiligo (Check out her new instagram to follow her story here). Alani has seen Zara on several occasions since her diagnosis, and has never seemed to be curious about it. However,  during our most recent Mommy Meet up, Zara and Alani were casually hanging out making their puppets for their parade, and Alani points to Zara’s face, and asks her what’s that on your face. “Oh, Shit” were my exact thoughts, had she hurt Zara feelings? think quick, and respond!! but what do I say? were all running through my head in the 1 second she asked that question. I was really stuck and I just started saying the 1st thing that came to my mind. “Well Lala, everyone is different, so everyone has different skin, and some peoples skin looks like Zara’s and some like yours, some people have things on their bodies that others don’t”  and then Zara’s mom Widza chimed in, and said “yes Zara is unique”, and “I said yes everyone is unique; do you see the scar that you have on your forehead from when you had stitches, look at Zara’s head she doesn’t have that, everyone is unique” and I continued to say “so can you say unique LaLa, can you say unique Zara” (they both did), I said “Lala say I’m unique, Zara is unique, but we’re all  beautiful”, and she repeated it, then Zara repeated the same, then when I seen Zara smile I knew that Widza have accomplished what I like to call “A teachable moment”.

I have a lot of teachable moments in this life of motherhood, and a lot of times we are caught so off guard and have to think quick, like the one I explained above. This was a teachable moment for both me and the kids, it taught me that I should make a conscious effort to teach Alani about differences, whether that be someone with glasses, hearing aid, wheelchair, someone with different likes, etc. It also taught Alani and Zara about uniqueness.

Widza I love You, and I’m happy we were able to tag team this situation in .5 seconds. I love how strong you’re raising Zara, and I love how you have her chant beautiful affirmations such as “I’m beautiful, I’m a queen, I’m smart etc” (Check out her Instagram for that).

I pray that when the caregivers aren’t around children are understanding and sensitive of their peers differences, and I pray that the children who are considered “different” are confident and strong, and knows how to handle a situation on their own when someone shows inquisition, because we’re not always going to be there.

I think I should do teachable moments posts more often, they can probably helpful for us all. What teachable moments have you all experienced.

Our Visit to The National Geographic Encounter

April 24, 2018 | Leave a Comment

This past weekend we visited the National Geographic Encounter. It was a really cool experience that takes you through the Pacific Ocean. Their technology, and photo animation allowed us to swim through extraordinary underwater places, and feel like we were actually there. We visited the coral reefs at night, we watched two squids have a really intense encounter, we also swam through the kelp forest

Alani was really acting as if she was swimming through the different

It’s a bit on the pricey side, but was a nice experience overall. Check out our pictures below
