Halloween 2022

October 31, 2022 | Leave a Comment

We’ve already had such an event Halloween, and Halloween is today lol. This weekend we had a ball. Thanks to our family for always arranging activities for the kiddies to enjoy. The kids went to their cousins Halloween Party, and then we went to a cookie decorating class at their aunts restaurant (Whisk & Whisky).

Did you guys celebrate and dress up for Halloween as a kid? We really celebrate this holiday for the dressing up purpose of it all. This year the kids wanted to pick out their own costume. Lala picked out an evil princess costume, and Aleise picked out a witch costume. Sekou decided that he was going to get in character to and dress up as a biker, which really isn’t him being a biker when he is one in real life. Since the entire family was dressing up I decided to wear a costume at the last hour literally. I decided to be Freddy Krueger, a hot one at that!

Next year hopefully we can dress up as a family. I’m surprised we haven’t done that yet. We really celebrate Halloween for the dress up aspect of it all. Do you and your family dress up in costumes? if so, what were y’all this year. Are you guys going Trick or Treating? Make sure you check their candies before allowing them to eat it. Also, I am praying for us parents and the sugar rush our children are about to have.

The smiles on their face is what I do it for. Look how happy they are.

Table For 1 Please; Solo Dining

July 12, 2021 | Leave a Comment

I recently went to have lunch by myself. Many people think it’s the weirdest thing to have lunch by yourself, but me I love it. Some people find being in solitude weird or uncomfortable, whereas I love it. I love being able to being my own thoughts, stroking my imagination (In true pisces behavior).

I haven’t been out to eat by myself in a long time, but a few days ago I went to Whisk & Whiskey ; a Bar and Bakery in one. When I initially walked in I said “wow I can see myself dining here often to grab a bite, and maybe alittle cocktail if I’m up for it. The space is really so inviting, the decor… beautiful. They also have an outdoor space if you want to dine and get fresh air.

This Bar Bakery is located in the heart of Brooklyn. They offer a mix of Trinidadian, and Cambodian flavors. They serve fresh bakes (a Trinidadian staple), which you can eat alone or have with different fillers, such as Jerk chicken, Sweet Cambodian Chili Crispy Chicken, and more. They also serve a couple of baked good; cakes, and cookies (the lemon cookies- to die for), and drinks, they have many, the “Miss Ting Tings” was my favorite.

If you’re into solo dining or even group dates, add this to your list of places to visit. Also, I almost forgot to add that the staff were so welcoming, the hospitality was A1. So, make sure y’all visit. Let me know some places I can go dine alone that y’all love.

I had the Bake and Jerk Chicken. Now if you likes spicy food this one is for you. Now listen, only get this if you can handle the heat!! lol The Chef, Secoyah made this with love. Ade with the right amount of spice and flavor. Also, the freshly made Plantain chips that you see there, make sure you get it!!!
This is the Miss Ting Tings, so yummy!

Trust The Process

May 11, 2021 | 1 Comment

Last week I spent a few of hours reading my friend, my twins book “Trust The Process”. Although I’ve heard the story before, there were so many things I didn’t know, and it really felt as if I was hearing the story for the first time. While reading all I kept saying was “Twin lives such an exhilarating life” like wow you’re really out here taking risk, going full throttle. In High School we would always say “Have Faith”, and to see twin really just out here putting her best foot forward, not knowing what the outcome may be, but having faith that she would be led through the roads to success is amazing, and so inspiring to see.

Deijha, visited my fathers hometown-Ghana, and decided that she was going to move there to start her food truck business (Deijha Vu’s Jerk Hut), and she really did it. So many trials and tribulations, many that would have discouraged most, but Deijha continued to trust the process, and did what she set her mind to.

I love how she gave insight on every step, and was so vulnerable to the readers. One thing about twin she’s not going to hold out on information if she thinks it’ll benefit someone. She’ll tell you what factory she went to, to have her food truck built, what facebook group she was in to find staff; everything. She really is the epitome of, what’s for you is for you, and won’t miss you, even if we’re in the same field. Purchase the book y’all, it’s a quick read, and so worth it. Let me know what y’all think

Happy Mother’s Day

May 9, 2021 | Leave a Comment

Motherhood is Sacrifice, motherhood is patience, motherhood is time, and most of all motherhood is love. Sometimes they all may not coexist at once, but each and everyday we do our best, and that’s what counts. I hope you all take the time to love on yourselves, and appreciate how far you’ve come it’s not easy but it’s worth it.

Happy Mother’s Day to the mommies, the grandmothers, and let’s not forget the aunts who all make it possible. You all are loved.

-Love Demitra

Thank You

March 23, 2021 | 2 Comments

Sekou and I want to thank you all for the love, omg we can feel it all. So thankful for all of our family friends, and internet friends; sending their love, and best wishes. It means so much seeing our daughters, and family so happy that we’re taking this next big step. Friends that both Sekou and I have known since we were 9 were reminiscing on their memories of us; the sweetest. We just want to let y’all know that we are grateful.

Many of you were asking of the run down on how it went, and even the video of the proposal. Although the internet can’t get the video lol I will say that the moment was so beautiful. To give a brief synopsis, we were at dinner on the beach at “Flying Fish” in Aruba to be exact. We were surrounded by water lightened with blue LED lights. We were talking about family our future, what seemed to be our regular dinner conversations. Words of love, and appreciation were shared, and then boom there Sekou was on one knee with the most beautiful ring asking me to marry him; how romantic.

It’s so crazy that i’ve known Sekou since I was 9, and I knew this day would come, but after he popped the question I started getting butterflies, and I couldn’t even contain myself, I didn’t even eat my Lobster and Shrimp I ordered, still mad about that. You know that feeling you get in your stomach when you’re soooo excited about something, yea that feeling. I really didn’t think I’d react like that, but you know what It felt perfect it felt right. We are blessed to have crossed paths in this lifetime.

So thank you all for your well wishes. We Love You!
