The love Alani had for her pacifier was intense, really intense, I mean she couldn’t go throughout the day, sleep or be without this pacifier period. However, the breakup wasn’t so bad, it wasn’t bad at all matter of fact.
Let me give you a little history about this pacifier obsession. Alani has been using a pacifier since she was a newborn. The plan was to ween her off of the pacifier once she turned 18months, but I think we were just as obsessed with it as she was. If any of you have children who use or used a pacifier know that it serves for so many things; it’s a great soothing tool, melt down fixer, etc. I never realized how long i’ve gone with not dealing with the actual problem of melt downs, we’d just give her the pacifier and that’ll solve the problem most of the time. Now that the pacifier is gone, there’s a lot of problem solving going on over here, a lot of “Why are you upset”, “you don’t have to cry”,”it’s okay” , and digging deep deep deep down in my soul for more patience that I didn’t even know was hidden in me.
