Last week I took some well needed days off of work, and used that time to spend with my daughter and nephews.
We were able to visit a couple museums; the American Museum of Natural History (you can see those pictures here), we also made it to the Brooklyn Museum.
I’ve been to the Brooklyn Museum on many occasions, but I haven’t been there in a while, and they have fixed it up so nicely. If you live in Brooklyn, and have never been to the Brooklyn Museum, be sure to put it on your to do list, you won’t be disappointed.
My nephews and daughter were in tow, my eldest nephew enjoyed, teaching me things I didn’t even know about Egyptian art. My youngest nephew was ready to leave after the first 30 minutes lol. Babygirl slept most of the time we were there, so I was really able to take my time, and explore everything in it’s entirety.
My favorite exhibits were the Stephen Power; Coney Island is Still Dreamland (To a Seagull), and of course the agitprop exhibit (which is the combination of agitation, and propaganda). I absolutely LOVE the agitprop exhibit. It’s an exhibit that displays tons of feminist art, and I love that, because I’ve never seen an exhibit solely dedicated to feminist supporters, I barely see feminist artist works at most of the museums I’ve been too, or even art created by women (there are some but not a lot), most of the museums I’ve been to focus on male artist, and there are a lot of women artist who I am a fan of, whose works should be displayed. Hopefully that will change soon.
Anywho, be sure to visit the Brooklyn Museum, and the agitprop exhibit located on the 4th floor.
Here are some pictures from our visit. [Read more…]
