On Good Friday my family and I decided to take a trip to not one, but two museums, the MoMA PS1, and the Museum of the Moving Image (which I will talk about in another post). Sekou has been wanting to come here for some time, so Good Friday was the day.
The MoMA PS1 is an affiliate of the MoMA, which explains the greatness. The MoMA PS 1 is located in Long Island City, in a hundred year old Romanesque Revival school building. It literally reminded me of when I was in Public school (hence the name), with the stair case, and the offices. What I love about this museum is that they display works from emerging artist, new genres, and new works; most of these popular museums usually display works from already famous artist, so that gives the MoMA PS1 extra points.
I enjoyed myself here, it was much different from any other museum I went to, all the exhibitions were in different classrooms, so you had to walk through the hallways, and staircase to get to the other exhibitions. A few of their exhibitions were closed, but what we seen was really nice, and some interesting. We even got in FREE, with our New York City ID, so if you’re looking for somewhere to go, you should take a trip there, bring the kids too, because Alani seemed to enjoy herself too.
Here are some pictures from our trip.
I absolutely love this painting by Louise Lawler
